Borussia Dortmund moved to within one point of a top four finish in the Bundesliga with a convincing 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Although the former German champions still have plenty of work to do, Edin Terzic’s side will take a huge amount of confidence from beating the third-placed side so handedly thanks to some outstanding individual performances.

❌ Jude Bellingham: 5.6

Despite being the man of the moment in Dortmund right now, following his impressive performances against Manchester City, Saturday’s win over Wolfsburg will undoubtedly be a match that Jude Bellingham would rather forget all about.

After picking up a silly yellow card in the first half for misbehaviour, the central midfielder then got himself sent off moments before the hour mark when a late challenge on Kevin Mbabu forced the referees hand. In this crucial period of the season, Dortmund will now be without one of their most gifted midfielders, who’ll now be receiving a one-match ban.

✔️ Mahmoud Dahoud: 7.7

After becoming a forgotten man in this Dortmund squad under Lucien Favre, Mahmoud Dahoud has enjoyed something of a renaissance under Terzic and elbowed his way back into the starting XI in recent months. Saturday’s performance over Wolfsburg was yet another example of what the midfielder can do when he’s on the top of his game.

Along with putting in a fantastic defensive shift, the deep-lying playmaker was also more than happy to pull the strings in the middle of the pitch and showed just how good he can be when he threaded a remarkable through ball to Erling Haaland in the 68th minute to allow the Dortmund striker to run on to the ball and double his and his team’s lead.

⭐ Erling Haaland: 8.8

Although his performances may not have diminished, there’s little doubt that going into Saturday’s game Haaland was in the midst of a dry spell at Dortmund with just two goals from his last nine games.

However, the Norwegian striker looked back to his very best on Saturday as he put Wolfsburg to the sword with two tremendous goals.

The first came just 12 minutes into the match when the towering striker latched on to a poor backpass and powered into the Wolfsburg box to fire the ball inside the near post.

Haaland then once again showed his incredible acceleration in the second half when a precise through ball from Dahoud allowed the striker to sprint from his own half to single-handedly counter attack and beat Wolfsburg’s defence with a simple finish.
