EFL Cup Final News: How Man City and Tottenham could line up
The first domestic trophy of the season is up for grabs, as Man City and Tottenham meet at Wembley in a game where some fans will be allowed entry.
Pep Guardiola's side have been formidable in this competition, and are in scintillating form, whilst Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho at the start of the week.
It's been a controversial week for both sides, as both of course were involved in the short-lived European Super League debacle.
Guardiola is expected to name a starting XI mixed between regulars and second-string players, as he looks to win a treble this season.
Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne are in contention to play in the cup, with the former having an injury-hit season. De Bruyne has been slowly working his way back from injury.
In goal, Zack Steffen is likely to get the nod ahead of Ederson. In defence, Joao Cancelo, Benjamin Mendy, Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte are likely to start.
In midfield, Guardiola will utilise a blend of youth and experience, with Fernandinho likely to get a start. Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan should also expect to start.
In attack, Riyad Mahrez could start alongside Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling. It's felt that Guardiola may not risk De Bruyne, with the semi final of the Champions League on the horizon.
Tottenham meanwhile go into this final with a new coach, after Mourinho was giving his marching orders at the beginning of the week. Ryan Mason has been left in charge of the side until the end of the campaign.
This is the club's only hope of success this season, and therefore Mason will name a very strong starting XI.
Hugo Lloris will start in goal. He will be supported in defence by Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon.
In midfield, Mason is likely to choose Tanguy Ndombele and Pierre Hojbjerg in the double pivot.
Ahead of Ndombele and Hojbjerg, expect Gareth Bale, Giovanni Lo Celso and Son Heung-min to start from the off.
Harry Kane hasn't recovered from his ankle injury, so therefore Lucas Moura will start as the lone striker.
