Man Utd 3-1 Burnley Player Ratings: Greenwood double decisive

Paul Macdonald

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood struck twice in the second half as Burnley were seen off 3-1 at Old Trafford.

After a dour first half, Greenwood converted confidently with his left foot at the fart post, only for Burnley to equalise almost instantly through a James Tarkowski header.

But Greenwood's speculative deflected shot with six minutes remaining flicked past Peacock-Farrell and found the net for the win, before Edinson Cavani added a late third.

✔️ Marcus Rashford: 8.0

It always appeared as though Rashford would have a role to play in breaking down a Burnley team who had defended well in the first half, and his constant efforts were ultimately rewarded.

It was his burst down the left, cut in and ball across the area which eventually found its way to Greenwood for the opening goal which lit up a dull contest.

⭐ Mason Greenwood: 8.9

Until recently it hasn't been the best of runs in front of goal for Greenwood, who certainly has struggled to match the efforts of last season with positive performances in this.

But he was influential here, sweeping home a Marcus Rashford cross-box pass to open the scoring.

And it was up to him to provide the crucial goal, taking a speculative shot from his custom spot on the right-hand side of the box that nicked off the heel of Jack Cork and found the net.
