La Liga Team of the Week: Maverick Messi magnificent again for Barcelona

Lionel Messi was, once again, the best player in the Spanish Primera Division this weekend as he starred for Barcelona against Osasuna.

In a game in which the Catalan side won 2-0, Messi (9.4) was the orchestrator-in-chief, setting up both of the goals and enjoying 92 touches of the ball. His tally of 43 passes sent into the final third was only bettered in this round of fixtures by Betis attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir.

In the most important game of the weekend, Luis Suarez (7.9) scored Atletico Madrid's only goal of the day against Real Madrid in a match that ended 1-1 thanks to a dramatic, late equaliser from Karim Benzema. The Uruguayan performed well, and was unlucky not to be the match winner.

On the left-hand side of the front three is David Ferreiro (8.1), who didn't deserve to be on a losing side as Huesca were defeated 4-3 by Celta.

In the number 10 role is David Silva (8.5). The Manchester City legend kept things ticking over the central area for Real Sociedad versus Levante, sending 28 passes into the final third and touching the ball 11 times inside the opposition box, too, with his late runs proving to be a threat.

Team-mate Mikel Merino (8.5) was the match winner in that one as he scored the only goal, while he won 13/22 duels and made nine ball recoveries.

Casemiro (7.7) makes up the final spot in midfield after winning the majority of his duels and having the third-most touches of any player with 100.

Two Betis players in Emerson Royal (7.9) and Aissa Mandi (7.3) make the Team of the Week in defence after the 3-2 win versus Alaves, with the former recording an assist.

Jordi Alba (7.7) features at left-back, with Real Sociedad's Robin Le Normand (7.8) in too after misplacing just one pass the entire game and winning 9/10 duels.

In goal is Jan Oblak (8.0) who made a huge seven saves against Madrid in the derby.
