Paul Macdonald

Gareth Bale produced his finest performance since the beginning of his second spell at Tottenham as Jose Mourinho's side easily dispatched Burnley.

Bale provided two goals and an assist in a devastating display which shows that the Welshman finally looks to have rediscovered his fitness six months after rejoining on loan from Real Madrid.

But how did Bale perform overall?

⏱️ 2' It took Bale just two minutes to get off the mark. He controlled a cross from Son with one touch and finished with his left foot, to pick up where he left off in the Europa League in midweek.

A ⏱️ 15' And soon after he provided a glorious assist to Harry Kane. Kane had pulled left and Bale found him with a 60-yard raking pass which looped over the Burnley defence onto Kane's toe. The England captain did the rest, taking a touch before lashing into the net.

⏱️ 55' But it was arguably his second goal which showcased the true Bale. Once again Son did well, sweeping the ball out to him on the right. He took a touch inside and whipped a perfect left-footed curler in off the foot of the post to signal a celebration that confirmed at least that he has his swagger back.

Three shots in total, two goals, as well as two completed dribbles and 5/8 duels won as well, before being replaced on 70 minutes.

〽️ Gareth Bale Rating

Bale's form has definitely taken a turn in the right direction of late, making it four goals and three assists in his last four matches. In fact, those contributions have come in just 201 minutes of football - the equivalent of a contribution every 29 minutes.

Yes, the standard of opponent hasn't been great. Burnley provided minimal resistance and Wolfsberger were swatted aside in Europe. But compared to his lacklustre performances to this point, it's a huge step in the right direction.

Bale: What Next?

We can only expect more minutes for the Welshman. He looks fitter now than he did a month ago and he still has superb technique on the ball. Mourinho would be wise to get the most out of him before the end of the season.
