La Liga Team of the Week: Varane Madrid's unlikely saviour, Isak impresses

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane put in a match-winning performance for Los Blancos at the weekend when he scored both of their goals in a 2-1 win versus Huesca in La Liga.

Varane (9.4) displayed his predatory instinct in front of goal with two close-range finishes, the first being a header, which ultimately won all three points for Madrid.

His Real Madrid team-mate Casemiro (8.5) also makes the Team of the Week following his performance against Huesca in which he won 10/15 duels and completed 68/74 passes.

Zinedine Zidane's men have actually played in the league since the weekend, defeating Getafe 2-0, but that fixture was actually a game in hand and so isn't included within the ratings for the weekend's round of fixtures.

The best performer of the weekend in La Liga was Sevilla's Joan Jordan (9.5), who recorded two assists in the 3-0 win over Getafe, while he had more touches than any other player in the round with 127.

Alexander Isak (9.3) scored his seventh and eighth league goals of the season in Real Sociedad's comfortable 4-1 victory versus Cadiz, and leads the line in our formation.

On the wings are Jose Luis Morales (8.7) of Levante and Gerard Moreno (8.5) of Villarreal, both of whom scored a double for their respective sides.

In the number 10 role is Mikel Ozarzabal (8.3), who also scored two goals for Real Sociedad.

Joining Varane in the centre of defence is Jules Kounde (8.9). The previous Man City target was superb for Sevilla, winning 10/12 duels, 100% of his tackles, and 5/7 aerial duels, as well as completing 94/100 passes.

In the full-back positions are Javier Galan (8.2), who scored an absolutely screamer against Real Madrid for Huesca, and Real Sociedad's Andoni Gorosabel (7.2)

Real Valladolid lost 1-0 at Alaves, but goalkeeper Jordi Masip (7.1) was unlucky to be on the losing side and actually kept the scoreline down with his four saves.
