Premier League Team of the Week: Brilliant Bamford the perfect team player

Leeds impressively defeated Leicester 3-1 away on Sunday in the Premier League, with striker Patrick Bamford emerging as not only the man of the match, but the best player of the whole weekend.

Bamford (9.6) had a hand in all three goals, with his own strike being ruthlessly fired into the top right corner with his cultured left foot to make it 2-1.

He recorded two assists, and his second displayed a truly refreshing piece of unselfish play as he found himself with only the goalkeeper to beat, only to pass square for team-mate Jack Harrison to smash home.

Liverpool appear to be back to near their best following two impressive wins in a row against Tottenham and West Ham. Against the Hammers, Mohamed Salah (8.7) was in dazzling form, scoring two goals, with his second arguably a contender for one of the goals of the season.

A gorgeous over-the-top pass from Xherdan Shaqiri saw the Egyptian take the ball out of the air with a marvellous first touch with his weaker foot before dinking a deft left-footed finish over the keeper.

Making up the front three in FootballCritic's Team of the Week is Callum Wilson (8.6), who scored two of his own in Newcastle's vital away win at Everton.

Brighton earned a huge win at home to Tottenham, with Leandro Trossard (8.2) proving to be the match winner with the solitary goal of the game.

Two pass masters make up the midfield pairing in Jorginho (8.1) and Thiago (8.1). Both were in the top six for passes completed and touches of the ball out of every player this weekend.

Chelsea earned their second clean sheet in a row under new manager Thomas Tuchel, with the players apparently flourishing in a new three-at-the-back system.

Thiago Silva (8.5) and club captain Cesar Azpilicueta (8.4) make the Team of the Week, with the former topping the ball recovery chart with 15, while the club captain scored one of their two goals versus Burnley.

Patrick van Aanholt (7.7) slots in at left-back, while Ruben Dias (8.1) completes the outfield 10 after another superb outing for Man City as they secured another clean sheet in the 1-0 home win against Sheffield Utd.

Dias had 123 touches of the ball, and completed 110/117 attempted passes.

Leeds had to weather a storm in a period of the game against Leicester, and relied on goalkeeper Illan Meslier (8.0) to make no less than seven saves.
