Premier League Team of the Week: City players dominate after West Brom demolition

Man City's outstanding recent form continues this week as they put five past West Brom in a huge 5-0 away victory in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola's side have now won seven on the bounce in the league and haven't lost in the top-flight since the 2-0 defeat by Tottenham in the middle of November.

Four of Man City's players make it into FootballCritic's Team of the Week.

The best of the bunch was Ilkay Gundogan (9.5), who is arguably enjoying the best run of form of his entire career with the club, as after his two goals against West Brom he has now scored seven goals in his last eight games in the league.

Both of his finishes were of very high quality and picked out perfectly into the left corner - one with his right foot and one with his left foot.

There was an element of luck in their second goal as West Brom players stopped after following a raised flag as Joao Cancelo (9.3) curled a beauty into the top corner, only for the goal to be awarded by VAR. The Portuguese won't mind, and he already claimed an assist for the opener, too.

Raheem Sterling (8.9) and Riyad Mahrez (8.9) both make the line-up after their excellent cohesion against West Brom, as they both scored via an assist from the other.

Liverpool finally got back to winning ways against Tottenham on Thursday, with Sadio Mane (8.8) recorded a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win in North London. He makes up the front three.

West Ham are in the lofty heights of fifth in the Premier League now, having defeated Crystal Palace 3-2. Their main man was once again Tomas Soucek (9.6), who scored two and won 9/16 duels and was actually the top performer of any player in this round of games.

Thomas Tuchel's first game in charge of Chelsea ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Wolves, but Mateo Kovacic (8.8) will have impressed his new manager, with his ridiculous tally of 146/150 completed passes and 164 touches. These talies were, naturally, the highest of any player this week.

Chelsea team-mate Thiago Silva (8.5) features in the centre of the defensive alongside Harry Maguire (8.3) who was unlucky to be on the losing side for Man Utd versus Sheffield Utd.

Trent Alexander-Arnold got back to form against Spurs, rattling in the second goal for Liverpool after a weak save from Hugo Lloris. He also set up the third goal for Mane.

Fulham earned a 0-0 draw away at Brighton, largely due to the efforts of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who made five saves to earn his clean sheet bonus
