Wycombe 1-4 Tottenham Player Ratings: Ndombele and Winks outshine Bale

Robin Bairner

Tottenham ultimately sealed their passage through to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 win against Wycombe, but the side bottom of the Championship made Jose Mourinho's men sweat.

The visitors deployed a much-changed side and fell behind when Fred Onyedinma struck midway through the first half. Gareth Bale levelled on the stroke of half-time and the hosts gave out late on as Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele (twice) found the net in the last four minutes.

So who were the best and worst players on the pitch?

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Harry Winks 8.2

For much of the game, the midfielder seemed destined to be named man of the match. He was the man who made Tottenham tick in the centre of the park. he touched the ball on 84 occasions, made two interceptions and seven recoveries.

And of course, he scored what proved to be the winning goal with just four minutes remaining, breaking the home side's resolve in the process.

Gareth Bale 7.2

The on-loan Real Madrid man has not exactly been knocking down Jose Mourinho's door to get into the starting XI. This was another display in which he played to a good standard - but not an outstanding one.

Although he scored Spurs' equaliser shortly before the break and posted a match-high nine touches in the box, he was wasteful in the final third. He attempted eight shots but only two found the target.

STAR MAN

Tanguy Ndombele 8.9

What a terrific 22-minute cameo from the former Lyon midfielder, who came on and helped change the course of the match thanks to his dynamism in midfield and his quality around the opposing box against a tiring defence.

Had an all-action spell on the field in which he shot at goal three times, netted with both efforts on target and created one big chance. Not bad going for just 16 touches.
