Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe has revealed the secret to the club’s recent improvement in form.

Manager Mikel Arteta was teetering on the sack prior to Christmas but they have since enjoyed a five-match undefeated run in the Premier League, earning 13 points in that period.

It continued on Monday as they breezed past Newcastle by a 3-0 margin, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s double added to by Bukayo Saka.

Smith Rowe, who set up Saka for a tap in second, believes that it is no coincidence that the club’s form has improved as Arteta has started to give faith the academy graduates.

“We’ve all played together from a young age. It’s a dream for us,” he told Sky Sports after the game. “We’ve already had that link up and I think we get onto the pitch, it really shows.”

Meanwhile, he revealed the player who has had the greatest influence on his career since he broke into the first team.

“Alexandre Lacazette, playing together with him up to, he gives me so much confidence. He talks to me a lot. And he always speaks to me off the pitch," he added.

The influence of Arteta, too, has been important in the teeanger’s development.

“He tells me to play free, clear my mind. If I make a mistake just forget about it. He gives me so much confidence,” he said.

Arsenal’s next Premier League outing comes next Tuesday against Southampton, but before then they will play in the FA Cup on Saturday.
