Solskjaer "disappointed" his Manchester United side dropped points to Leicester
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is disappointed his side weren’t able to take all three points from Leicester City and move into second place in the Premier League table.
A late own goal from Axel Tuanzebe cancelled out what looked like a winner from Bruno Fernandes in Saturday’s 2-2 draw between the two sides.
And while Solskjaer is happy to leave the King Power Stadium with a point, he knows that all three points would have moved his side into second place and just two points off league leaders Liverpool.
“We’ve got a game in three days and we have an extra day to recover, which we’ll use wisely,” the United boss told BT Sport.
“One point is not the worst result but we’re disappointed that we didn’t get away with three here because it’s a very good side that we were playing against.”
The visitors took an early lead through a smart finish from Marcus Rashford, before Harvey Barnes levelled the scoring on the 32st minute.
The Old Trafford side then took the lead again just after the hour mark, but Anthony Martial’s finish was ruled out for being offside.
Fernandes then did score a second for United, when Edinson Cavani played him through just 10 minutes before full time.
However, Jamie Vardy managed to get on the end of cross five minutes later and knocked it into the back of the net, via the outstretched leg of Tuanzebe.
And while Solsjkaer was happy with his team’s performance, he knew Leicester always had a chance to snatch a late equaliser.
“You can’t think that until the game is over and the final whistle is blown. So, of course, we’re disappointed that we didn’t win today.
“We had loads of big chances and we could have finished it off but then again they’re a very dangerous and quality side and the goal from Vardy just shows his quality.”
