Leeds 5-2 Newcastle, Player Ratings: Rodrigo and Harrison sparkle in comeback win

Robin Bairner

Leeds claimed a dramatic 5-2 victory over Newcastle in the Premier League on Wednesday as they produced a stunning late 15 minutes to overcome Steve Bruce's side.

Jeff Henrick had given the visitors a first-half lead, but Patrick Bamford cancelled it out before the break.

Leeds then struck through Rodrigo in the second half only for Ciaran Clark to reply four minutes later.

In a blistering conclusion, though, Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison all found the net for the hosts.

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Rodrigo & Jack Harrison: 7.3

Leeds deployed a very attacking midfield set up in this game, and both Rodrigo and Harrison made the most of it.

The Spaniard may have been taken off before a late two-goal burst sealed the points, but his strike early in the second half was instrumental in Leeds' success. Fittingly, it was assisted by Harrison, who completed the scoring with a couple of minutes left.

BAD PERFORMANCE

Jamal Lewis: 4.9

It was an evening to forget for many of Newcastle's players, but particularly left-back Jamal Lewis, who was given a torrid time throughout.

The young prospect did not look confident on the field and was regularly picked out as a weak link by a ruthless Leeds side.

STAR MAN

Ezgjan Alioski: 7.9

Scored a memorable goal as Leeds moved 4-2 up with 10 minutes remaining. Newcastle were caught short defensively as they sought an equaliser, and Alioski was one of five Leeds players who had the energy to reach the opposing box. He was rewarded with a goal.

If there are still question marks over his defensive contribution, he helped answer some in this outing.
