FC Player of the Day, Oct 21: Robin Yalcin (Yeni Malatyaspor)
Yeni Malatyaspor moved ahead of Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig after comfortably dispatching Konyaspor, largely due to the composed, effective performance from their central midfielder.
Moving away from Yalcin for a second, it should be noted that the visitors were given a rather hilarious helping hand in the first minute as goalkeeper Serkan Kirintili was sent off for clearing catching the ball outside the box to prevent an attacker running through to score. Truly bizarre.
With Konyaspor down to 10 men, Yalcin prospered with the extra space, and completed a quite incredible 100% of his attempted passes on the night, while he also made three ball recoveries and two interceptions.
He grabbed a deserved goal shortly after the break by prodding a finish into the bottom corner after finding himself in the right place inside the box.
