Bayern Munich 3-3 RB Leipzig, Player Ratings: Coman hat-trick of assists rescues a point

Stefan Bienkowski

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig were forced to share the spoils of a fantastic Bundesliga clash as both teams took a point in a 3-3 draw.

While Hansi Flick and Julian Nagelsmann may have been hoping for all three points to give their respective sides an edge in this season’s title challenge, a draw was perhaps a fair result after a number of impressive performances on either side.

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Thomas Muller: 8.5

Bayern can usually rely on Thomas Muller to influence a game in one way or another and Saturday’s hard-fought draw with RB Leipzig was no exception.

The former German international was on hand to score two of Bayern’s three goals and was a constant threat in the final third as the hosts did their best to push for a late winner.

Emil Forsberg: 7.6

Nagelsmann raised a few eyebrows prior to Saturday’s match by selecting Emil Forsberg as his lone striker, yet it seemed to work wonders against Bayern.

Not only was the Sweden international a regular thorn in Bayern’s side with the manner in which he chased down long balls and applied pressure to the back line but his perfectly placed header just before half time was an outstanding goal and showed just how much of a threat he could going forward too.

BAD PERFORMANCE

Manuel Neuer: 4.8

For much of 2020 Manuel Neuer has looked like the goalkeeper of old who stormed European football with his incredible saves and modern sweeping of long balls behind his defence. Saturday’s clash against RB Leipzig wasn’t exactly that.

While the German keeper couldn’t do much for the second and third goals, Neuer was undoubtedly at fault for the first when he ran out to meet Christopher Nkunku but completely misread the speed of the ball and offered very little as the RB Leipzig striker ran by him and scored the opening goal.

STAR MAN

Kingsley Coman: 8.9

In a match that desperately demanded the very best from every player on the pitch, it was French winger Kingsley Coman that showed up for Bayern and put RB Leipzig to the sword on three separate occasions.

It was Coman who laid the ball off for young midfielder Jamal Musiala in the 30th minute to fire home an equaliser for the hosts. Then, just four minutes later, the French winger popped up again to play Thomas Muller through to give Bayern a lead.

If that wasn’t enough, Coman once again popped up late on in the second half to swing a cross in for Muller to once again grab a goal and give Bayern a late equaliser. If not for Coman’s skill on either wing Bayern would have surely lost the match.
