Juventus 2-1 Torino, Player Ratings: Juve mask poor performance with slender win

Emmet Gates

American born midfielder Weston McKennie and Leonardo Bonucci saved Juve's blushes from an average performance in the latest Derby della Mole.

Torino, who hadn't win in the derby since 1995, led for most of the match, but capitulated in the last 15 minutes, with strikes from McKennie and Bonucci sinking Il Granata to another defeat.

Juve weren't worthy of the win however, which was due more to determination than any great moments of magic.

Despite the win, Andrea Pirlo knows he has plenty of work to do in order to configure this amalgamation of talent at his disposal into a system that works.

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Nikola Nkoulou: 7.6

The 30-year-old defender produced a very solid performance defensively for the away side.

Nkoulou scored in the ninth minute to give Torino the lead, and marshalled Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala superbly throughout the 90 minutes.

Nkoulou wasn't at fault for either of Juve's late second-half goals, and was his usual dependable self.

He will be bitterly disappointed at how the game finished for Torino.

BAD PERFORMANCE

Dejan Kulusevski: 5.8

After a bright start to his Juventus career, the Swede has stumbled in the last month or so.

Kulusevski found it difficult to get into the game, and despite drifting into various positions on the pitch, failed to affect the game for the home side.

He received a yellow card early in the second half, and was promptly taken off six minutes later.

The 20-year-old will want to rectify his poor performance in Juve's next game, against Barcelona on Tuesday.

STAR MAN

Juan Cuadrado: 9.5

What a season the Colombian is having for Juventus. Ever since Maurizio Sarri reinvented Cuadrado as a right back last season, in light of an injury crisis, the Colombian has excelled in the position.

Against Torino, Cuadrado had a goal disallowed due to VAR. But the former Fiorentina and Chelsea winger still showed the resolve to keep fighting, and provided not one but two assists, both from crosses on the right-hand side, to turn the game around in Juve's favour.

Cuadrado, a player usually associated with remarkable inconsistency, is now shredding that tag at right-back.

He's provided seven assists this season in all competitions for La Vecchia Signora.
