Under-fire Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane says his side's 1-0 away win against Sevilla can't be understated.

The Spanish giants walked away with a slender 1-0 win against Sevilla thanks to an own goal from Yassine Bounou early in the second half.

It was Real's first victory in the league in over a month, as Zidane is under severe pressure for the first time in his managerial career.

Speaking after the match, Zidane remarked that the victory was of huge importance to their season.

"There are three very important points, but more important is the game we played," he told reporters.

"Our first half was very good and the three points are deserved, against a very good opponent. We have overcome that against a team that puts you in difficulties at any time."

Real are struggling to score goals at present, with only four goals netted in as many games in La Liga.

"We have to be happy with the chances we have made," said Zidane.

"And everything improves by regaining confidence and regaining play and tranquility.

"Today we interpret the game very well and we suffer, of course, because there is a rival. You have to trust what we do and congratulate the players because it is not easy to come to Seville and win."

Zidane faces a crucial week as Los Blancos boss. Defeat to German side Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League would see them fail to make the knockout rounds for the first time in the competitions 28-year history.

They also have the Madrid derby next Saturday.
