Man Utd 1-3 PSG, Player Ratings: Neymar the star as Fred struggles

David Lynch

Manchester United missed out on the chance to progress to the Champions League knockout stages as they were beaten 3-1 by PSG at Old Trafford.

Goals from Neymar at the start and end of the game sealed the win for Thomas Tuchel's side, who also netted through Marquinhos after a Marcus Rashford equaliser.

So who were the best and worst performers on both sides?

✔️ GOOD PERFORMANCE

Marco Verratti: 7.1

PSG might not have controlled the game as consistently as they might have liked, but that wasn't down to Verratti.

The Italian was a calm head in the middle of the park for the visitors, completing 92% of his 72 passes and moving the ball into the final third on 20 occasions.

BAD PERFORMANCE

Fred: 5.7/a>

Fortunate not to get sent off for an ill-advised headbutt on Leandro Paredes in the first half, the Brazilian did not make the most of his luck.

He continued to charge about the midfield recklessly and won none of his two attempted tackles before eventually picking up an inevitably second yellow.

STAR MAN

Neymar: 9.6

The 28-year-old is frequently accused of not properly applying his remarkable talents but he was a joy to watch during this game.

All three of his shots were on target, leading to two goals, and he also completed five dribbles and created one big chance. United couldn't get near him.
