Ex-Liverpool forward Iago Aspas creates SIX big chances in Granada win

Liverpool may not have gotten to see the best of Iago Aspas in his short and unsuccessful spell at Anfield.

But in La Liga Aspas has been one of the best talents outside of the big three for some time, and performances like his vintage effort against Granada on Saturday explain why.

The 33-year-old created an astonishing SIX Big Chances in the contest, efforts where the recipient of his passes would reasonably be expected to score. And yet, despite his expected assists to be an extremely high 2.9, he recorded just one assist in the match.

FC still granted him a 9.7 FC Rating for the contest, though, such was the quality of his display. His highlights were a fantastic close-control dribble on his left foot, snaking down the touchline to provide Miguel Baeza with the chance, who smashed against the crossbar. Baeza was able to put home the rebound, but unlucky for Aspas, it didn't count as an assist.

But the one that he created to seal the points showed even greater quality, Aspas rounding the goalkeeper out wide before slotting perfectly across the box for Fran Beltran to slot into the empty net.

At 33, Aspas is too old to get another big move, and Celta are happy to have a player still producing top-class performances at this stage of his career.
