Argentine legend Diego Maradona dies aged 60
Diego Armando Maradona, arguably the greatest footballer to have ever lived, has died aged 60.
According to multiple reports, the legendary Argentine died of cardiac arrest in his homeland.
Maradona has been fighting ill health for a number of years, and recently had surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain.
News broke in Argentina that Maradona had collapsed this morning, and reports that have had passed away has been confirmed.
Maradona won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina, in addition to winning two Scudetti with Napoli, and a UEFA Cup in 1989.
The Argentine Football Association expressed its deepest sorrow for the death of our legend, before saying: "You will always be in our hearts."
Alberto Fernandez, the president of Argentina, has declared a national three days of mourning: "You took us to the top of the world. You made us immensely happy. You were the greatest of them all.
"Thank you for having existed, Diego. We're going to miss you all our lives."
Earlier this month he was treated for a blood clot but was also being treated for alcohol dependency, and his troubles with drug abuse in the past have been well-known.
The world of football have been issuing tributes to Diego, who was awarded the player of the century award in a joint ceremony with Brazil legend Pele.
