Heung-min Son: "I've never once thought I am among the best players in the Premier League"

With eight goals so far this season, and a burgeoning reputation in England, most fans would consider Heung-min Son to be one of the Premier League's top performers, however Son himself doesn't agree.

In an interview on the Korea Football Association's YouTube channel, Son humbly expressed that "I've never once thought I am among the best players in the Premier League. Honestly, I’ve never thought that for a moment.

"I have always tried to do my best for Tottenham and in the national team and try to show all my abilities."

Now into sixth season at Spurs, following his £27m move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son is a household name in England, and is adored by fans back in the Korea Republic.

Currently away on international duty, Son claims the team "will prepare well so that we can play as well as we can for the fans."

If Son can continue playing as well as he is for Spurs, then the Korean Republic should have no trouble in this international break.

Due to his impressive form over the past few years, Son is now only five goals away from a century for Spurs, and many of those are thanks to the impact of Harry Kane, with whom Son has formed one of the most formidable forward pairs in Europe.

"[Harry] Kane and I have played together for a long time. It's common to try to develop [the partnership] at every moment. He is younger than me, but he always plays hard."

In fact, only Kane, with 15, can better Son's 10 goal contributions in the league so far this campaign, and with numbers like that, it's not hard to disagree with the winger and believe he's not only one of the best players in the Premier League, but in the world.
