Diego Maradona's shadow loomed large over the Wednesday fixtures in the Champions League following the great man's death, but there was still some superb performances over the round to honour his memory.

The best performer of Champions League Matchday Four was actually a goalkeeper, a Olympiakos' Jose Sa (9.3) made a remarkable 10 saves against Man City in the 1-0 loss against the Premier League outfit. He certainly didn't deserve to be on the losing side.

It was a special night for Martin Braithwaite (8.6) as he scored his first Champions League goals for Barcelona away at Dynamo Kyiv.

Joining him in attack is Erling Haaland (8.5), who continued his ridiculous goalscoring form with a double versus Club Brugge.

His Dortmund's team-mate Jadon Sancho (9.0) features on the wing after a goal and an assist. He lit up the game with a magical free-kick.

On the opposite wing is David Neres (8.5), who starred and scored for Ajax in the win against Midtjylland.

Despite a depleted squad, Real Madrid impressively won away at Inter, with Toni Kroos (8.4) expertly controlling things in the middle of the pitch. He completed a quite ridiculous 127 out of 130 attempted passes.

Bruno Fernandes (8.9) slots in beside the German after his two-goal haul against Basaksehir, including a thunderbolt of a strike to open the scoring. He could have got a hat-trick, but unselfishly handed a penalty to Marcus Rashford.

Juan Cuadrado (9.1) continued his excellent Juve form and recorded two assists against Ferencvaros.

Christian Romero (8.6) and Nico Elvedi (8.8) both kept clean sheets against Atalanta and Shakhtar respectively, while the latter scored in Gladbach's win.

Zaidu Sanusi (9.0) slots in at left-back after his goal and overall outing for Porto against Marseille.
