FC Player of the Day, 1 Oct: Serge Gnabry (Bayern)

It couldn't be anyone else, could it?

For a player that was deemed surplus to requirements at Arsenal, Gnabry has flourished in the Bundesliga in his home country of Germany.

To the uninitiated, his dominating performance in Bayern's 7-2 demolition of Tottenham in the Champions League would have come as a huge surprise, but to the more enlightened football fan - this performance had been coming.

He scored four on the night, with every strike coming in the second half. His first goal was a display of supreme pace and control, as he left Serge Aurier for dead with a penetrating dribble before lashing home. The second was neatly finished in off the post, while the third saw him show his electric speed again, easily bursting in behind the Spurs defence before coolly passing past Hugo Lloris. His fourth goal, scored with three minutes to go, was a rasper of a strike from 18 yards which nestled perfectly in the corner.

He also assisted Robert Lewandowski's goal which gave Bayern the lead before half-time.

Aurier will be having nightmares about this man for weeks.
