Harry Kane: Player Rating and Performance v West Ham

Paul Macdonald

Harry Kane dismantled West Ham in a thrilling 17-minute spell in the first half but his performance still wasn't enough to give Tottenham the win in an incredible 3-3 draw.

But just how well did Kane perform?

Kane flew out of the blocks in sensational style.

A ⏱️ 2' Just two minutes were on the clock when Kane whipped a stunning pass around the back of the West Ham defence into Son Heung-Min's path, and the Korean steadied himself before curling into the far corner.

⏱️ 8' Just a few minutes later he sold Declan Rice a cheeky nutmeg on the edge of the area before shifting onto his right and lashing his shot in at the near post.

A ⏱️ 17' And he put Tottenham on easy street by leaping at the back post to head home easily and complete a stunning opening spell.

Kane also hit the post late on and he will be as stunned as anyone as to how Tottenham contrived to give away three goals in the closing 10 minutes and surrender victory.

✔️ IMPROVEMENT

Kane's last outing was a somewhat underwhelming one, earning a 6.9 FC Rating in England's 1-0 defeat to Denmark, but here he was in superb form, rightly earning a 9.6 FC Rating for his performance.

Kane: What Next?

This new hybrid role that Kane has taken up, not quite a playmaker, but not quite an out-and-out forward really is a sight to behold.

His interplay with Son is absolutely outstanding and their partnership puts Tottenham in with a real shout of silverware at the end of the season. If Kane continues to do what he does best, and with Gareth Bale to be integrated as well, it could be as exciting a Tottenham team as we've seen under Jose Mourinho.

But they are going to have to get better at keeping teams out at the other end...
