Griezmann lays a dig at Barca after saying Deschamps knows how to use him

Antoine Griezmann has aimed a sly dig at Barcelona for how he is currently being utilised, after praising Didier Deschamps for playing him in an effective position for France.

Since the arrival of Ronald Koeman as head coach, Barca have been shaped in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Lionel Messi featuring as the False 9 centre-forward which has shifted Griezmann out wide right, with Ansu Fati on the opposite flank. Philippe Coutinho is usually deployed behind Messi.

Griezmann is yet to score this season for Barcelona, and has been substituted in each of their three games so far.

However, in his three international appearances since he has scored two goals, including in France's 2-1 Nations League victory against Croatia on Wednesday, with him given a free role behind the strikers.

Griezmann says he benefits from the confidence of his coach when playing for France.

"The coach knows where to put me," the former Atletico star told TF1.

"I take advantage of this situation, of this place, of the confidence of the coach and my team-mates.

"It was a complicated match, not very beautiful to see, not very beautiful to play, on a difficult ground. We knew how to suffer, the most important is to win and show that we are strong."

Griezmann returns to club action this weekend when the Blaugrana travel to Madrid to take on Getafe.
