Pogba: My dream is to play for Real Madrid

Paul Pogba says it is his "dream" to play for Real Madrid.

Over the past 18 months, Pogba's future at Manchester United has been in doubt, with form and injuries preventing him reaching the high levels of performance that he enjoyed with Juventus.

Throughout that time he has been continually linked with a move to Madrid to link up with compatriot Zinedine Zidane.

That talk had since cooled as Pogba's performances improved after the Premier League recommenced during lockdown, with him forming a superb partnership with new signing Bruno Fernandes.

However, he has risked the ire of the United fans again by putting himself in the shop window for Madrid.

"We have all heard that things have been said. What to say? Yes, all footballers would love to play for Real Madrid. It might be a dream," Pogba responded to reporters when asked about a potential transfer to the Spanish champions.

"It is a dream for me, why not one day? But I play for Manchester United and I love my club.

"I perform for Manchester United, I have fun and I want to do everything to put the club where it deserves to be .

"I will give my maximum, like my team-mates."

Pogba is now in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, though United do have the option of extending it by a further 12 months.

He has revealed that he hasn't had contact with director Ed Woodward about an extension yet.

"I have not spoken with Ed Woodward (executive vice-chairman of Manchester United)," he said.

"We did not talk about a renewal. For now, I am in Manchester and I mainly think about getting back to the best of my form.

"I think there will be a moment when the club will come and talk to me and maybe offer me something, or not. So far, nothing has happened. I can't tell you something that I don't know."

Pogba came off the bench for France during the week in their huge 7-1 friendly victory against Ukraine. Les Bleus now have two upcoming Nations League matches against Portugal and Croatia.
