Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Amad Traore from Atalanta for an initial fee of €30m.

Due to work permit restrictions, the 18-year-old won't move to Old Trafford until the start of 2021.

Traore has made just three Serie A appearances for La Dea since being promoted from the youth set-up, but has been earmarked as a potential star of the future by club captain Alejandro Gomez, who reportedly said of the youngster:

"‘He’s a future star, trust me. During our training sessions he seems like [Lionel] Messi! You can’t stop him, he’s unbelievable, our centre backs have serious problems when Traoréeis on the pitch… he’s fantastic!"

Job Security: Solskjaer suffers 'worst day' as Man Utd boss

Dembele to Man Utd is off as Frenchman focused on Barca

It is a bright spot of news for Man Utd who were humiliated 6-1 at home by Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now under extreme pressure as boss.

Throughout the summer he has been desperate to land primary transfer target Jadon Sancho, only for the club to fail to meet Dortmund's valuation of the England international.

A move for Ousmane Dembele was also suggested, but on Monday sources from France confirmed the player was staying at Barcelona as it was his wish to remain at the Camp Nou and fight for his place under new head coach Ronald Koeman.

Man Utd could still complete deals for Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani on deadline day, however.
