Werner questioned Chelsea move after heavy Bayern defeat
Timo Werner admits that doubts entered his mind about potentially moving to Chelsea after he witnessed the Blues being comprehensively defeated 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 game against Bayern.
Last season, which was Lampard's first in charge of Chelsea, the Premier League side drew Bayern in the first knockout stage and were defeated 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg.
In the second leg, which took place after lockdown, they lost 4-1 at the Allianz Arena.
Chelsea were under a transfer ban last year and have made up for lost time this summer by splurging over £200m on Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and Kai Havertz.

Werner, who played against Bayern with RB Leipzig last season, questioned whether a Chelsea transfer would be the correct career move after he witnessed Bayern so easily winning the first leg in London.
“I would be lying if I said it wasn't like that," he told Sport Bild.
"The 3-0 home defeat of Chelsea in the first leg against Bayern hadn't exactly spoken in favour of going to London.
"I have to say that openly, because with Leipzig we always played very good and close games against Bayern."
The German reckons that Chelsea were able to learn from the first-leg loss, though, as they went on to qualify for the Champions League again and reach the FA Cup final.
"By showing Chelsea the weak points, the club was able to work on the pieces of the puzzle in order to catch up with the future Champions League winners Bayern. That's what Chelsea did," he added.
Werner has impressed in his first two Premier League matches with Chelsea, against Brighton and Liverpool respectively, but is still on the lookout for his first goal in England.
