Bale could stay at Spurs beyond current loan
Gareth Bale could stay at Spurs longer than his current season-long loan deal, according to his agent Jonathan Barnett.
Real Madrid have been wanting Bale off their books for longer than a year now, with him very nearly moving to the Chinese Super League around this time last season.
However, when that move fell through he stayed in Madrid for another campaign to be used sparingly by head coach Zinedine Zidane.
Eventually, he earned a sensational loan return to Tottenham, the team he made his name with before his world-record move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

With any return to favour at Real Madrid looking pretty much impossible, it looks like Spurs are in pole position to keep him beyond the 2020/21 season.
"I'm sure that if things really worked out well, we'd have no problem," Barnett told the BBC..
"This is the club he wants to play at. I don't see any problems if he wants another year.
"Hopefully the subject [of returning to Real] won't come up. He will be so successful at Tottenham he'll want to stay and it will be a simple deal to do the rest."
Ultimately, Barnett wants Bale to reclaim his love for football after a couple of years of ill-treatment at Madrid.
"What I hope is he'll get his love back for the game and play the way he can, but it's up to him," he continued.
"And he's not on trial anywhere. He's achieved more than any other, I think, British footballer abroad, so I think he's fine."
Bale has been given the number nine shirt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but is currently injured, meaning the Spurs faithful will have to wait a few weeks before his second debut for the club.
