Some recent transfers you might have missed
Pretty much any football transfer which takes place at the moment is going to play second fiddle to a potential Barcelona exit for Lionel Messi.
So, while everyone keeps their eye on the Argentine, we looked away for a moment to check out some deals that have went through over the past week.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Arsenal to Roma
Fee: Free
Henrikh Mkhitaryan's career has been in decline since he left Dortmund for Manchester United after being crowned the Bundesliga Player of the Year. A move to Arsenal was meant to be a new beginning but that one didn't work out either. The Armenian found some form again on loan at Roma in the 2019/20 season, and after he mutually terminated his contract with the Gunners, he has returned to the Stadio Olimpico on a permanent deal.
Oscar Rodriguez
Real Madrid to Sevilla
Fee: €15m
After coming off a successful two-year loan with Leganes, Oscar Rodriguez was deemed surplus to requirements at Real Madrid, who are well stocked in the attacking midfield position with the likes of Isco, Marcos Asensio, and the returning Martin Odegaard all set to vie for that role. Europa League champions Sevilla have won the race for his signature.
Aleksei Miranchuk
Lokomotiv Moscow to Atalanta
Fee: €14m
La Dea have held off competition from Milan to sign attacking midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk. The impressive 25-year-old is currently out with a thigh injury but should be ready to start the season when Serie A recommenced. A respectable fee was agreed with Lokomotiv Moscow, but they will be guaranteed a significant portion of any sell-on fee.
Claudio Bravo
Manchester City to Betis
Fee: Free
After his contract at Man City expired, Claudio Bravo wasn't on the free transfer list for long as he was snapped up by Manuel Pellegrini and Real Betis. Bravo had been linked to a move to Major League Soccer with New York City FC, but has opted to return to La Liga after previously featuring with Real Sociedad and then Barcelona.
Robin Koch
Freiburg to Leeds
Fee: €13m
With a permanent move for Ben White looking increasingly unlikely, Marcelo Bielsa has strengthened his backline with a swoop for Robin Koch of Freiburg. The German stands at a towering 6ft 4in tall so is sure to be pretty useful in both penalty boxes for the Championship champions.
Aaron Mooy
Brighton to Shanghai SIPG
Fee: €5m
Under Graham Potter, Aaron Mooy made 32 appearances for Brighton last season, but with the manager of the Seasiders admitting that the club were well stocked in the central midfield department, they have allowed the Australian to move to the Chinese Super League.
