Mbappe out for three weeks, may miss Champions League
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe has a sprained ankle and will be out for three weeks, casting serious doubts on his participation in the Champions League quarter-final tie against Atalanta.
This past weekend, PSG won the Coupe de France after a 1-0 victory against Saint-Etienne, but their win was spoiled slightly by Mbappe being forced off in the first half after a late tackle from Loic Perrin for which a red card was shown.
The signs at the time did not look good for the World Cup winner, with Pablo Sarabia coming on as his replacement.
Now, PSG have released a statement labelling the injury as an ankle sprain, with the schedule for recovery around three weeks.
In 16 days time, the Ligue 1 champions face Atalanta as the Champions League recommended, in which they will likely have to do without their star forward.
Should he recover quicker than the three weeks announced, it is still highly unlikely he would be fully fit enough to feature against the Serie A side.
Even though the prognosis doesn't look promising for Mbappe to play in Europe, the statement released from PSG stopped short of definitely ruling him out of the tie.
In the second half against Saint-Etienne, Mbappe could be seen walking to the bench with the aid of crutches.
