Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will put Cristiano Ronaldo straight back into the starting XI for Manchester United's Premier League clash versus Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Portuguese superstar was left out of the squad completely for United's League Cup encounter with West Ham during the week.

In that game, they lost 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a goal from Manuel Lanzini, as Solskjaer's hopes for his first trophy as boss took another hit.

The Norwegian changed his entire starting XI for that one, for which he has come under some criticism.

Eleven changes, or close to it, will happen again this weekend.

Dean Henderson started in goal on Wednesday but David de Gea will return for league action in front of the usual back four of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

Fred has taken some criticism recently so it might finally be time for Solskjaer to try out the tandem of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay in midfield, especially considering the raft of talent he has in attack which is making it difficult to justify the Frenchman playing out on the left.

Bruno Fernandes will start in the number 10 role, potentially flanked by Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has not enjoyed a positive start to his career at Old Trafford and failed to impress in the League Cup, but he needs a run in the team to find his feet.

Ronaldo will start up top as Edinson Cavani has only just returned to training.

Marcus Rashford is still recovering from shoulder surgery.
